Gemini may now automatically launch Google Maps navigation. Here’s how you do it.
Google has been gradually introducing new features to Gemini, their AI-powered personal assistant. While it may not be capable of doing all Google Assistant does, the tech behemoth just updated Gemini to automatically launch Google Maps navigation when you ask for directions.
To begin navigating to a location with Gemini, simply launch the AI-powered digital assistant and enter the ‘navigate to [place name]’ or ‘take me to [x]’ commands. Once you tell Gemini where you want to travel, it will display a summary of the route, the distance to your destination, and the time it takes to get there using the Google Maps connection. A few seconds later, the AI-powered assistant will immediately launch Google Maps and begin navigating. According to the Gemini app’s changelog on the Google Play Store, when using the app, you will no longer need to hit the send button because voice commands will be sent automatically. While the ability to begin navigating to a location is new to Gemini, Google Assistant has had this capability for years.
The AI-powered digital assistant now lacks some features as compared to Google Assistant, but the company is gradually enhancing Gemini by providing new features and integrating functionality that was previously available on Google Assistant.
Google’s Gemini app is not available to everyone, but you can obtain the APK file from a reputable third-party website, install it on your device, and use it as an alternative to Google Assistant.
